Design System In The Making

Originally, Keeps did not have a design system, which created multiple inconsistencies throughout the design process, provoking friction between design & code. As a solution, I began auditing all the basic components within Keeps that were in Storybook and recreated them within Sketch. In doing so, new designers had the freedom to map out the types of components that were being used and which have been archived. As a start-up, the fluctuation and updating of components occurs rather rapidly and being able to keep up with it was a key factor to help Design & Engineering come together. All components were named according to Engineering standards to be able to communicate ideas faster. This design system is just a starting point, but it has helped tremendously to clean up old components and to steer away from inconsistency.
